Accountability? Not everyone has it. In a world where everyone wants to be right, seek righteousness not self-righteousness. Sometimes when you're not wrong, you still have to find accountability and just let it go sometimes. That becomes a little more bearable when you think about all your failures and indiscretions.
If proving you're right causes you to act a fool, then it ain't worth it. Trust me, it's appeared I've lost battles that in reality I've won by exercising growth. Accountability sometimes means not getting the last word even if justified.
You cannot force someone else to be accountable. We aren't necessarily supposed to confess for people. If we have an issue, we can go to that person or if we see an area where correction is needed, we absolutely should go to that person in love, and if he or she doesn't receive it then we keep it pushing. It's not our job to force someone to accept the error. We're supposed to do it for ourselves. This also should lead us to raw honesty with self meaning asking "what could I have done in the situation that could have made the difference?".
The other party's communication could be trash, but how was yours in that instance? Were you too passive or passive aggressive? Look at yourself even when it's not your fault to the naked eye because there's always room for improvement.
Now don't get it twisted, this does not mean accept blame that someone else deserves, but it is to help us to walk more blameless. Our job is not to condemn one another but effectively communicate and if someone does not want to own up to their faults, that's on them. Forgiveness is on us. That follows accountability. God just might use our example to prick others' hearts to grow in accountability as well. Remember Whose you are. He's checking your heart. That's why it's not all about being right.
